Flight Training

Volcano Heli can offer you an unparalleled flight training experience with advanced off airport training, enhancing your situational awareness and decision-making skills. Building hours in Iceland gives you a unique opportunity to obtain valuable experience to further your education and career as a helicopter pilot.

Iceland is a volcanic island in the North Atlantic sea boasting incredible landscapes like glaciers, geothermal areas, waterfalls, volcanoes and much more. Making it possible to build flight hours while traveling and seeing Iceland’s greatest sights from above. Iceland is only inhabited by approximately 350 thousand people that are spread along the country’s coastline. This leaves a vast area of uncontrolled airspace to be explored, enjoyed and utilized for off airport training. The weather also plays a big part in shaping the pilots that fly here. It can create demanding situations that provides excellent learning opportunities, strengthening your abilities as a pilot.

Since you will be travelling by helicopter in the Icelandic highlands you will be able to take breaks in the most incredible, secluded places. You have the chance to bathe in hot springs, stand on glaciers, take a closer look at steaming geothermal areas or relax on a mountaintop. It is possible to do multiday expeditions and stay overnight in various places around the country.

Volcano Heli offers flight hour building and training on the Robinson R66. In addition, we are able to provide training for type ratings and night VFR with experienced EASA/FAA certified flight instructors.

Whether you are looking to build hours towards your next certificate requirements or want to gain some experience, we can customize a package to fit your specific needs. We are happy to assist you with organizing accommodation, dining and other activities for your helicopter expedition.
